We learned how to design websites back in 1995 at Motorola, when the only way to design websites was to learn the HTML code. We still handwrite every website using industry standard HTML code. Our 'old school' HTML approach ensures that all of our HTML Code is error free and passes W3C Validation.

Five Common Mistakes in Web Design
1) Template Websites - Most template websites come with very little or no technical support. You are often very limited on what you can change in the HTML code. Some template sites even leave out the important META TAGS and any search engine optimization. Many template sites are often riddled with hundreds of HTML coding errors, many of which can't be fixed. Most have no FTP access to the host servers. You will often end up paying extra for website hosting, because the template website only works on the provider's own server. Many templates are just cheap overseas knockoffs, filled with duplicate content. There's an old saying 'You Get What You Pay For'.
2) All-Flash Websites - All-Flash websites might look great, but as we like to point out, there are lots of great looking All-Flash websites that no one will ever find in the major search engines. Unless all of your pages can be indexed with real text for the content, the search engines are not going to be able to find them. This is critical for the first page of any website. All-Flash websites are typically very large animation files, making them unusable by slow speed users. What you end up with is an expensive, and bloated All-Flash website that no one will ever find in the search engines. Flash as content can be used as an effective graphic enhancement if the Flash files are small enough, replacing a photo for example. All-Flash should never be used as the coding foundation for an entire website.
3) Do-It-Yourself Websites - What may seem like an inexpensive solution, can often end up becoming a coding nightmare, and end up costing you a lot more. How much expensive graphic software did you have to purchase? Do you know what you are doing? Did you have to pay for software training classes? Does your business website look professional? Is your website easily found in the major search engines? Do you have broken links and broken images? Does your HTML code pass W3C Validation? Can you fix all your HTML coding errors? Does your website display correctly on different browsers?
If your Title says "Untitled", "Untitled Document", "Home", or your URL, then Your Marketing Needs Help!
4) Relative Sites - Everyone has a relative, a niece or nephew in high school or college that just completed a web design class, and is eager to put your business website online as their next school project. The internet marketing of your business is far too important to trust to amateurs - no matter who they might be related to!
5) Telemarketers - Telemarketing companies will often try and sell you on their Search Engine Marketing Programs, many involving Doorway Pages and Link Farm Scams! Many of these telemarketing companies are based in Europe and Asia, but some also operate in the United States as well. This is where they sell you links on a large number of websites in order to 'artificially' boost your Google PageRank score. If you think you can fool Google - then you are the greater fool!
